On Friday, during an interview with “The Prince of New York” DJ Self of Power 105.1, former Bad Boy artist Mase aired a remix to Drake’s ‘Best I Ever Had’. This is his first release since 2005. Mase also said that the inspiration behind his comeback after such a long time, was Michael Jackson’s death.

“Mike passed away and it just lit the fire in me — it made me go in the studio and do something. I’m excited,” the Harlem-born rapper said. “I asked my nephew who is the hottest thing out there and he said, Drake!” When I listened to his music I said, “I’m going to jump on this joint.”

When he was asked if his fans should consider this his official comeback, Mase said, “I’ve got things up my sleeves, I just need someone to play them.” But I guess it’s safe to say, that the answer is a ‘yes’ since he is releasing a new remix to top songs every week. Remixes-all up on other peoples hit singles? Diddy taught him well. It took the Lox ten years to sever ties with Diddy. Hopefully it wont take that long for Mase.

Speaking of Diddy, while at Power 105, he also gave a shout-out to Diddy, Jim Jones and Cam’ron. This led to an on-air phone call from Jimmy himself, during which he apologized to Mase “for anything I ever did when I was younger. I tip my hat to you. This is monumental and it’s nothing but love.”

Shortly before he released his album “Double Up” in 1999 he announced that he was retiring from music. He told Funkmaster Flex during in interview that he was going to follow god. He became a pastor, but five years later he popped up again, in 2004, with the album “Welcome Back,” released on Bad Boy.

In 2005, sans Bad Boy, Mase had something going on with G-Unit, but nothing more than a mixtape came out of that ordeal. To date, Mase’s biggest-selling album remains his debut, “Harlem World,” with 3.3 million units sold. Let’s see if his next album can beat that.

Oh, and did anyone else notice the trend-every five years, he tries to make a comeback. So, I’m guessing after he releases an album this year, he will be going on another hiatus ’til 2014?

Byrd Gang leader Jim Jones has officially ended his rap dispute with Mason “Mase” Betha and promised his past verbal assaults were due to his age.

Speaking in a phone interview with DJ Self and Mase, Jones extended his hand to the former Bad Boy rap star.

“What’s good Beth, what’s poppin’,” Jones asked in a phone interview towards Mase. “How you feeling? Hey man, that’s what’s up, I just wanted to tell you I tip my hat to you. I apologize for everything I did when I was younger. You can get my number from Self and sh*t like that. Pardon my French. Pardon, pardon me it’s monumental that’s why I’ma get off it. You already know Betha, it’s nothing but love. Self’s got my number, I’m jumping off the line. I’ll holla, Jones.” (Power 105.1)

In addition to a dispute between Cam’ron and Mase in the late 1990’s, another altercation took place nearly five years ago.

In 2004, Cam’ron and his former friend Mase had a falling out over $50,000 that Mase requested for being in one of Cam’ron’s music videos. Mase put the beef into the news by conducting an interview at Hot 97, a New York City radio station. During the interview Camron’s label mate called in and began a heated on-air argument. Jim Jones accused Mase of fabricating his autobiography and criticized him for using real peoples names in his book. Jones went on to say “you wasn’t giving us money, so we went out and got our money.” Further insulting Mase by saying that they didn’t need him anymore as they were extremely successful in their Diplomats Purple Sizzurp Liquor venture. Jones also claimed that Mase didn’t leave Harlem at his own will, but that he was run out in fear of his life after the deaths of his two friends, Baby Mane and Pop Lotti. (Hip Hop-Beef)

Jones later clarified his issues with Mase.

“I was just caliing up to the radio,” he explained in an November 2004 interview. “I was a little hot that day and couldn’t believe what I was hearing and I decided to set the record straight. I didn’t appreciate what I was hearing.” (Six Shot)

Former Bad Boy protege Mase has shown signs of returning to the rap game by appearing on the “Best I Ever Had” remix alongside rap newcomer Drake.

While it is still unclear whether Drake is aware of the new feature, Mase’s rhymes on the track show they are not recycled bars.

Mase recently displayed his relevancy in hip-hop by speaking with DMX upon his departure from prison last month.

“I’m speechless man,” Mase explained in an interview. “This is a dream come true. When I wrote the first book that I wrote, I wrote in there that I had this dream and this vision and they was asking me what kind of dream church I would have and what type of people would be there, and he was one of the first people’s names I put in the book. This is monumental, I’m very speechless and very humble…It’s like when you do something, it’s one thing to touch a thousand people in San Francisco, it’s another thing to touch a thousand people in San Jose, but when you can touch people who were like you were, that’s the ultimate award.” (Strawberry In The Morning)

The rapper also discussed his underlying motives for joining G-Unit around 2005.

“I think people look at me like I’ve taken the step that people are most fearful of taking,” he said in an interview last January. “It’s not just the giving it up; it’s the sticking with it. Like most people have seen a lot of entertainers entertain the thought, but we haven’t seen many stick with it….In order for people to understand, you have to take them from where you were, to where you are. So in taking people from where I was, it would require you to do music that exemplified where you were, then if I would have stayed in it, I was going to musically bring them to where I am. Police have charged the tour manager of the Black Eyed Peas with assault after he allegedly punched celebrity blogger Perez Hilton outside a Toronto nightclub. Hilton said he got into an argument with band members Fergie and will.i.am at the Cobra nightclub early Monday morning and was punched outside by Polo Molina, the band’s tour manager. They were at the club following a Sunday night video awards show.

Molina turned himself in and has been charged with assaulting Hilton, Toronto Police Constable Tony Vella said. Molina is due in court Aug. 5.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, complained about the incident on the microblogging site Twitter. He tweeted at 4 a.m.: “I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke.”

Hilton, who is openly gay, said in interview with The Associated Press that he called will.i.am a “faggot,” a gay slur, inside the club after the musician told the blogger not to write about his band on his Web site.

“He was like ‘You need to respect me.’ He was in my face. He was obviously trying to intimidate me and scare me,” Hilton said. “I was like ‘I don’t need to respect you. I don’t respect you and I did say this, and I knew that it would be the worst thing I could possibly say to him because he was acting the way he was. I said ‘You know what, I don’t respect you and you’re gay and stop being such a faggot.’”

Will.i.am said in a video posting on dipdive.com that he came to Hilton with respect and was called a “faggot.”

Hilton, who was at the club with Lady Gaga, said he then left the club and was punched from behind. The pop stars and the blogger were among celebrities in Toronto for the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday night.

A spokeswoman for the Black Eyed Peas declined comment.

Prosecutors will call the pop star Rihanna to take the stand today in hopes to solidify their claims that she was physically attacked by her former boyfriend Chris Brown.

Officials decdided to banTV cameras and crews from the courtroom in efforts to keep the testimony from becoming a media blitz.

As earlier reported, an inside source, who has asked to remain anonymous, told Daily News reporters that the 19-year-old is expected to plead not guilty to two felony counts.

“It’s expected to be resolved at some point soon. Rihanna wants it resolved as well,” the source said.

The insider also stated Brown wants to dodge jail time and does not want to plead guilty to the felony threat charge since because it would count as one “strike” on his record under California’s Three Strikes law.

Brown faces two felony counts of felony assault and making criminal threats stemming from an altercation that left Rihanna bruised and battered on the eve of the Grammy Awards in February.

The Rihanna clone pictured with Chris Brown at the Lakers/Magic game on Sunday wants to make one thing clear — she wasn’t part of a Chris Brown PR conspiracy.

We spoke with Harlem girl  Teyana Taylor who says she went to the game with Chris because they’ve been friends for a long time and he is “like a brother.”Taylor said if people think Chris used her for a PR stunt it’s “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.”

As for looking a lot like Rihanna, Taylor said, “I’ve always dressed like that. I’ve always had style … I’ve had that Mohawk now for months.”

Taylor told us she doesn’t take sides when it comes to the alleged Chris Brown beatdown — but she supports C.B. “no matter what.”
